Are Engagement Photos Necessary?

One of the first questions a newly engaged couple ask themselves, particularly if budget is a concern, is “Do I need engagement photos?” As a wedding photographer, while I LOVE photographing your wedding day, I truly love photographing engagement sessions! It’s where I get the opportunity to get to know you as a couple! How you interact, your chemistry and learn more about your love story! It’s also the time for you to get to know me. You learn my posing style, my personality and my workflow. I get to also learn your favorite angles as well as any insecurities you may have. So come wedding day I have all the information I need to capture you at your absolute best and we’re not trying to figure those things out on your wedding day. So when I say let’s do the “almost kiss” you know EXACTLY what I mean! So, Engagement Sessions are more than just a chance to take some nice photos. They are also an essential part of the wedding photography process for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, your engagement session allows me to build a rapport with you as a couple. Building a connection with my clients is crucial piece to producing high-quality photographs on your wedding day. When you feel comfortable with me, you’re more likely to be relaxed and natural in front of the camera, resulting in more authentic and emotional photos.

In addition, Engagement Sessions provide a great opportunity for you to get comfortable in front of the camera.
